After breaking my RM-CB1 shutter release and two clones in the box used in the
Great New England Steampunk Exhibition, in addition to making a wider box, I
decided to make a homemade strain relief. I took a rubber sleeve I got from an
electronics store, and cut it down to size. I took a plastic clip for mounting
wiring and put it after the rubber sleeve, and used some electrical tape to
prevent it from moving. Finally, I took some leather lacing and tied it to the
camera strap holder on the camera. It may not survive strong yanks, but
hopefully it will prevent future breaks to the shutter release cable.
